Unforgettable Achievements of Turkish Athletes
It was a year of great success and pride for Turkish athletes. The outstanding performances of our athletes in different branches brought many medals to our country. Here is the list of athletes who won these medals:
METE GAZOZ
Olympic, world and European champion archer. He made history as Turkey's first archer to be ranked No. 1 in the world.

Started in the sport in 2010 by his father Metin Gazoz, a former international archer, Mete distinguished himself by placing fourth at the 2014 Youth Olympics. Two years later, he reached the second round of the Olympics.

After the Rio Olympics, Mete continued to rise in the rankings with his results in the World Cup competitions, and since 2019 he has consistently ranked in the top 10 in the world rankings. Gazoz, who entered the main table in Tokyo ranked 10th in the qualifying shootings, won six matches in a row, bringing Turkey its first archery medal in Olympic history. Gazoz also finished fourth in the mixed team with Yasemin Anagöz.

Continuing his success after his historic victory in Tokyo, Gazoz won the World championship in 2023. On May 23, 2022, Mete Gazoz ranked No. 1 in the World Archery world rankings for the first time.
